How it works

There are two ways to size your system:

  • Monthly units: we size an on-grid system that offsets your consumption (~1 kW per 120–130 units/month).
  • Appliances: an intelligent hybrid model that splits your load into necessities (fans, lights, fridge, AC — always on and backed up) and manageable loads (iron, water pump, microwave, washing machine — short, daytime, one-at-a-time).

The three tiers

  • Budget (Managed): the inverter only carries all necessities plus the single largest manageable load, and tubular batteries back up essentials only — the smallest, cheapest setup.
  • Standard (Unmanaged + tubular): run everything at once; a larger inverter and tubular batteries back up your full load.
  • Premium (Unmanaged + lithium): the same unmanaged sizing with lithium batteries (90% usable depth, longer life) and premium components.

Each tier gets its own inverter, panel array, battery bank and cost estimate so you can weigh convenience against price.

Frequently asked questions

What size solar system do I need?

As a rule of thumb in Pakistan, 1 kW of solar generates about 120–130 units per month. So a 400-unit home needs roughly a 3–3.5 kW system. Enter your monthly units and the calculator sizes it for you.

How much does solar cost in Pakistan?

It depends on size and equipment tier. This calculator estimates the total across budget, standard and premium tiers — panels, inverter, battery (if any), mounting, balance-of-system and installation.

What is a 'managed' vs 'unmanaged' solar system?

A managed system assumes you schedule heavy, occasional loads — iron, water pump, microwave, washing machine — to run in the daytime, one at a time, on direct solar. That lets a smaller inverter and battery cover your home (the Budget tier). An unmanaged system (Standard/Premium) is sized so everything can run at once.

Do I need batteries?

Only if you want backup during load-shedding or at night. Use the 'Appliances' mode and set your backup hours to size a battery bank; the 'Monthly units' mode assumes an on-grid system with no battery.

How much will I save?

The calculator estimates monthly savings from the units your system generates at an average grid rate. Real savings depend on your tariff, net-metering and consumption pattern.
